This Cookie Policy explains how qa.codes uses cookies and similar technologies on the qa.codes website (the "Service"). It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember your preferences, and to keep you signed in. Similar technologies, such as browser local storage, can be used for the same purposes.
We keep our use of cookies to a minimum. qa.codes uses only essential cookies and similar storage that are strictly necessary to provide the Service and to remember basic preferences you have set.
We do not use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking cookies. We do not build profiles of your activity, and we do not share cookie data with advertising networks. Because we only use strictly necessary cookies, we do not show a cookie consent banner — under UK privacy rules, consent is not required for cookies that are essential to providing a service you have asked for.
The table below describes the cookies and similar storage qa.codes relies on.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Authentication session | Supabase | Keeps you signed in to your account and maintains your session securely. Only set if you create an account and sign in. | Essential | Session / until you sign out or it expires |
| Theme preference | qa.codes | Remembers whether you have chosen light or dark mode so the site displays correctly on your next visit. | Functional | Persistent (stored in your browser) |
If you do not create an account, no authentication cookies are set. The theme preference is stored only if you change the default theme.
Some features rely on third-party providers who may set their own cookies when you interact with them directly — for example, signing in through Google or GitHub. These cookies are governed by those providers' own cookie and privacy policies, not by this one. We do not control them and do not receive tracking data from them.
Because the cookies we use are essential or functional, the Service may not work correctly if you block them — for example, you may not be able to stay signed in. You can still control cookies through your browser at any time. Most browsers let you:
You can find instructions for managing cookies in your browser's help pages (for example, in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge settings). Clearing or blocking our cookies will sign you out and reset your theme preference, but will not otherwise affect your ability to browse the site.
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example if we introduce new features. If we ever begin using non-essential cookies such as analytics, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent before those cookies are set. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
If you have any questions about this Cookie Policy or how we use cookies, you can contact us at hello@qa.codes. For questions about how we handle your personal data more broadly, please see our Privacy Policy.
